Duke Release Launch Party?
I don't really post here much, but I do read a lot. With the release date looming closer(I got a $50 bet on a release before April 2009 with a friend), I was wondering about a secondary matter to the game itself.
This has nothing to do with the game or marketing specifically, so you should be able to answer it. When the game is finished, gone gold, and sent to whatever company makes the discs and boxes, is there a plan for a special party? I am not talking about Apogee/3D Realms employees only, but a larger scale launch party in...let's say NYC, with bombshells, Duke lookalikes, and lots of drinking as famous celebrities play the game for the first time on large projector screens? If so, what does one have to do to get invited? If not, and we arrange one and invite you guys to it, would you accept? If you won't come, do we have permission to arrange a "DukeCon" event or is the name trademarked? Yes, this thread is somewhat a joke, except for the fact I am completely serious. BTW, could I get a head count of who would want to go to: 1. 3D Realms "It's Done" Launch Party 2. Unofficial Launch Party attended by 3d Realms friends and staff 3. Duke Nukem (and general Apogee/3D Realms) Convention

Re: Duke Release Launch Party?
I think you are getting about ahead of yourself there.
Lets worry about all this once we get to that stage. The game still has to be completed yet and by the looks of things lately we still have a loooong way to go Although i do think it is safe to say that once the time comes there will be a "big" party.

Re: Duke Release Launch Party?
Just a hypothetical. It really doesn't matter if it takes 1 year or 100 years, I am just wondering about the day after that point.

Re: Duke Release Launch Party?
Fairly easy - any surviving fans will be given fares required to meet the ancestors of the original dev team, with complementary soylent green made out of the original dev team. They'll even pick you up from the teleportation pad with a hover taxi.
Yes, this reply is somewhat serious, except for the fact I am completely joking. |

Re: Duke Release Launch Party?
nah, i'm too much of a geek to leave my appartement and meet people. Once the game is released I'm gonna think about nothing but buying and playing the game.

Re: Duke Release Launch Party?
Heh, wasn't there some talk long ago about a 3DRBB barbecue when the game got done?
I'd fly in from Europe, no problem!

Re: Duke Release Launch Party?
I would go if it was in my hometown. but why would you fly to another continent just for some party? If it was the fastest way to get the game i'd think about it.
Will there be vegan food? That's the use of posting black text? |
