Memories from Apogee/3D Realms #7
It isn't really a story as much as a couple of pictures.

The first picture was my office last October (was the most recent pic I could find of my entire office).

The other two are from this past Monday (Jun 1, 2009) when I went in there to clear out my office. I had done some of it before I formally stopped working, but then my kid was born, and I was delayed in getting back to clear out all my stuff.

Wow...so much junk. Random question: were all those snacks yours or was your office the storage closet?

Every time I've moved out of my college dorm it is something like that...leaves an interesting feeling when you see what was once full of all your stuff, some of it what makes you, completely empty.

Joe was in charge of refilling the machines in the kitchen so I guess he had to store the overstock in his office.

Hey Joe was that your own 360 you had in your office?

Actually, that looks like the same computer as in the first shot. Can't tell for sure. I believe it's a DELL, and they've had all kinds of things in them, up to Pentium III 800s, that I knew of, anyway.

Which one are you talking about - there's two computers in the shots. The one towards the left was a Dell Insipron something or other. The white one in the lower right hand corner was a VERY old PC we kept around. It had MS-DOS 6.22 on it, and was never upgraded. It was kept that way for the occasional customer support question we had to answer. All of our DOS programs were on there and installed.

ah yes my initial thoughts on the old machine (beige) was right... a dos AT machine. That kinda takes me back to my good ol dos days.

Here's three more pictures to go along with this.

The first one was actually taken the same time as the others, but I didn't use it initally, as it's a bit blurry. But it does show the DOS 6.22 machine a little more clearly under the desk. The TV there was where I did all my testing for Duke XBLA on in 2008.

The second one is a picture I took of myself my last night of work, then printed, signed, and taped to my door.

The third one is the whiteboard above my old desk and what I wrote on it minutes before leaving (although the picture wasn't taken until about two weeks later).

From the way it reads, it sounds like Joe was just sitting at his desk, removing the last bit of personal info from his computer and suddenly his wife busts in the door, does a somersault, lands on Joe's desk, opens her legs and out pops the baby. It probably made the Microsoft tada.wav sound when it came out.

whoa LOL

that's how you did all your dos troubleshooting huh? lmao I guess you guys will have to start making more games so your most popular game isn't something from the stone age which requires dos machines to test for troubleshooting dos game problems

I always had a feeling that you had a Matrix poster on your wall. ;-)
I always had this feeling you secretly were pissed at my anti-matrix behavior.
I always wanted to apologize for cutting it to pieces in that old thread "why the matrix sucked and was somewhat good" but really... I just wish I had posted that stuff on my website rather than cluttering up the forums and eventually seeing the thread get deleted on one of it's time being dredged up from page 3 of the boards.
Funny to see all the drinks still piled up in your office. :-)

Thanks for all the memories... Peace!

That is really showing how 3DR cared for all their software and had it's games installed on their systems , and all this even after allll this years.

priceless.

But sadly the capitalism and business strategies just screwed all the greatness up. Take Two sucks

I don't think it's an indicator of care, more of professionalism. I agree on the capitalism part, but Take 2 seem to be doing quite well with their business strategies, they are raking the cash in.
