Prey on PS3 - Any chance?

Hey guys, do you think there is any chance that they will bring Prey over to the PS3? I am not into playing PC titles and I don't own a 360 but I would really like to play Prey.

Sorry if this has been brought up before.

Probably not at this point. Prey 2 might be a possibility to appear on PS3, but I wouldn't bet on that either.

Has it ever been addressed do you know? I have never seen it mentioned anywhere about it, in interviews or anything so I thought it was worth asking. I mean I can't imagine it would cost that much to port it over to the PS3, with DNF possibly coming to the PS3 I figure it would probably be worth taking a stab and see how it goes.

I think it hasn't really been addressed in that way, but they only announced Prey for Xbox 360 and PC. So that kinda leaves PS3 out.

PS3 version would need a lot of work, and considering that Prey isn't really a hot title anymore, it wouldn't be wise to port it over. Costs would be that of a full team working on the PS3 version, that costs money.

As I said, Prey 2 might appear on PS3, but there has been no announcements regarding that, or even the game.

Plus I don't think Prey sold as well as it should have in the first place. It was successful, but not as successful as a triple A title like Prey should be.

I don't see a PS3 version of PREY happening.
As peoplessi said, it would require a development team to do the work. PREY was developed for PC with another development studio doing the 360 version along Human Head.

To bring it to PS3 would require another team, a lot of changes to the game code and a lot of money and time.

PREY 2 (or whatever it will be called) may turn out for all three systems. But it's to early to make calls like that.

To me PREY, while short, is a triple A title. An awesome FPS with a great story, involving and atmospheric level design.

That will not be happening. Prey development is closed. No further ports that I'm aware of.

Eh... it was an "okay" game. I felt like it tried way too hard to get me to care about the characters. Level design didn't impress me and got me thinking "here's another silly puzzle" most of the time. Just as bad a Valves physics puzzles.

I thought we already discussed Triple A having little to do with a game's percieved quality? It's how much money, PR and development time went in. I mean a lot of people hate Oblivion, but that doesn't mean it isn't triple A. I mean using that logic you could call any indie free game "triple A" so long as you personally enjoyed it.

I think triple A title goes to titles that deserve them. A lot of shit games have a ton of PR, money and development time put into them... and they fail to deliver.

I think a triple A title game is left up to the player to decide. There are people out there that don't think Doom 3 is a triple A title.

The Doom 3 engine allready runs on the PS3 just as a FYI: http://www.idsoftware.com/business/idtech4/. And yes I know that the Doom 3 code base is different from Prey's to an extent but the amount of work to do should be minimal compared to say doing it from scratch.

But don't expect it happening : ).

As I said before, it doesn't matter whether it would run great or not. There would have to be a significant profit margin involved in producing the port, and considering that the game sold just alright with its intended audience on the PC and 360, there is no way in hell they would consider porting it over. The PS3 market for the game would be way too small to justify the cost of a port, especially considering how long the game has been out.

But yes, labels are to restrictive. I like games... and a good game is a good game.

What is it that you want me to talk about? There is practically nothing new we can discuess about prey that hasn't already been talked about (including DNF section as well). So these random little tid bits of randomness tend to lighten the mood of having to wait for prey 2 and dnf.

Unlikely to happen, as people have explained. The chances of making a good return on porting it to the PS3 isn't worth it.
