Now you're the one exaggerating

His look is sort of understandable considering the context of the story. It's been twelve years seen MP2 and Max has gone way off the deep end. It makes me think of Kevin Bacon when he shaves his head towards the end of the movie Death Sentence.

It's called sarcasm.

I always thought Max was a bit too skinny - Maybe he caught onto this as well. Nothing wrong with pumping a little iron, and popping a few Dianabol @ 30mg ED for the occasional 6 week oral steroid binge, especially in his old age...

In fact, in retrospect, that could be why he's bald.

He certainly isn't fat, though... by any means.

Yeah, maybe by your definition but not by mine. And that irks you? Who the flip cares? Not everyone has the same definition of what slim and fat is.

What are you, a friggin' anorexic?!

An ever-so-slightly distended stomach, perhaps... But he's not fat.

Oh, forget it... I'm going to get back to drinking my Martini.

It's the Gin that counts, don't you know?

Go find a fit 60 year old...but his family has to be slaughtered and he has to be a drug addict. When you find him, tell him to go to rockstar and bribe them to make him look like your definition of max payne.

I'm not "trolling", my dear - I'm merely stating that it's the Gin that makes a good Martini, and not the Martini, as most people would think! Try it, if you don't believe me...

Oh, great, a complete 180 in Max' look and setting, and a new voice actor, developer, and writer. Everything I want from a Max Payne sequel, to look and feel nothing like Max Payne. At least they're keeping the bullet time.

This game looks cool, it just doesn't look like Max Payne. AT ALL.

And what's all this talk about him being in his late 50's now? I thought this was supposed to take place only 12 years after MP2, and he looked to be in his mid 30's in MP2.

I posted the following on the facebook group.

So till i see, hear, and read more about Max Payne 3 I think we should not judge. I'm as big of skeptic as anybody about Max Payne 3 but some of the things fans of the series are complaining about on various forums and here don't seem like big issues. The storyline is the biggest concern i have and we only have heard a little of it and it wasnt bad so far. It's a fine line though. Rockstar is on Thin Ice. Sam Lake's writing will be tough to match. So I don't envy Rockstar. So far Rockstar has passed the test but we only have the Mp3 Press Release. The official site, and one 10 pg article most which were pictures. Not a lot.

Just like they did with MP2 itself(importing Max from MP1).

But only this time around it would make far less sense considering the extended time gap and the fact that the story (probably) revolves around how Max got to looking the way he currently does.

I'll take a paunchy, scruffy Max any day if it means the game's atmosphere remains intact.

As a brazilian citizen, I can tell they did very little research. I doubt they researched anything outside Wikipedia. Why are we seeing vertical favelas in São Paulo, I could not tell you. Nor could I say why there are goddamn palm trees growing from the favela soil. I guess they must figure a tropical country needs monkeys and fruits and exotic stuff everywhere.

I'm fully expecting the usual bullshit. Enemies speaking spanish, gross misrepresentations, all that good stuff. I know what artistic license is, but do you wanna bet this game's setting will come off as badly-researched and inaccurate to anyone that knows a little better? I'm calling it.

Looking at how bad the screenshots are - the title should be THE SUICIDE OF MAX PAYNE!

Anyway, as a joke, I decided to make my own fan-made sort of Max Payne 3 trailer... let me know what you think... I made it using the GTA IV engine... planning to do a proper one or even trying to re-create scenarios from the first game using the engine... but that's for another day... Re: Max Payne 3
Oh great, Max in this new game looks nothing like Max, and even his voice, which is critical to Max's identity, will not be the same! This is exactly the sort of thing I was worried about when I heard that Max Payne III wasn't being made by Remedy (because they are still busy with that Alan Wake game)! Doesn't look like Max, doesn't sound like Max, therefore can't even begin to feel like Max. And on top of that, Remedy isn't even writing the story, so you know that's going to have a major impact on how the story is going to be handled. It simply will not be done the way the creators of Max Payne would make it. And we, the many Max Payne fans, love (in general) the way Remedy writes and creates the Max Payne games, or else we wouldn't be Max Payne fans in the first place.

Why the heck does this game take place 12 years after Max Payne II?? We want to be able to play Max Payne games for a long time, with many great sequels, and Max being a relatively young and tough cop is central to that being possible. How can you do that if you skip such huge lengths of time in between games? In Max Payne 4 will Max be 73 years old? This is utterly stupid. I knew this was almost certainly going to get screwed up if Remedy didn't make it, and it's looking just like that, but now it's apparent that it's even worse than I feared it would be.
