Same news, but they mention other titles as well which R* says are going to fully "leveraged". Two of these made me excited, one being Red Dead Revolver, and the other being Manhunt. A next gen Manhunt would kick ass.

If you cut off the PC, you lose the wonderful world of mods...bad move when you consider the Max Payne franchise.

Not to mention Remedy releasing all the necessary mod tools for free. |

Katana was an awesome Max Payne mod So yeah I think it's quite handy for them to release mod tools for it.
Either way I wouldn't be too pissed off if they didn't release them. |

Re: Max Payne 3
Right, ever since 3DR was involved with the MP franchise, they've always made sure Remedy included the mod tools to fit their model in allowing the end-user to make their own addons. Never really did get into MaxED that much, since today's mods and map editors are far too complex anymore... The only map editor(s) that I really got into was(were) Build and maybe qED for Quake/Q2.
Anyway, I'm hoping that if MP3 does do map editing, that it be made easier for the end-user to make their own addons.

Now that we know that Max Payne 3 is coming (YES!) What is the story going to be, and I wonder if the graphics will be Duke Nukem Forever style.

Wondering if they'll make it a sci-fi FPS
Assuming they'll make it TPS it'll probably have a covering and targeting system, you know, to make the game appeal more to the masses

So how many millennia was the teaser?
I must check out the Katana and Kung-fu mods at some point before MP3.

Re: Max Payne 3
These words are for the developers whoever are (I hope) going to make Max Payne 3. Things that you should do in Max Payne 3:
1: First of all, change the post of Rockstar Games. Or whoever did those changes in Max Payne's character. Give us Sam Lake back. It's a game not Hollywood where these picture perfect guys are the main factor. Sam Lake is the only one who looks like Max Payne. Yeah, we have seen Max Payne. Whoever really played the game will agree with me. It's about that careless smile and fading seriousness. I don't know why you did this guys. 2: Ok, now. Improve the physics. Maybe it goes with the new actor (I don't wanna know his name) that if he bumps into those big boxes they all fall because he is so overweight that he walks like he is joking as if he is a monkey. 3: Improve Max's running. 4: We haven't seen Mona Sax fully. Please, this weirdly aunt-looking woman can't be Mona? 5: Improve story pace. 6: Just a plain request, if you have to then use all the same settings of Max Payne 1. I'm happy with that. Just make this part as memorable as part 1. Please, it's a request. 7: Improve Max's jacket's movement & thickness near the edges. It looks like a girl's skirt. Please do these changes. For the people here. Guys, can we make the developers see these demands somehow? Can you tell me a way. I'm currently trying to run this website I made some days back. www.valkyrpayne.blogspot.com. If you guys would like to contribute I'd be happy. But somehow we have to get the real Max Payne game back. These are so many things that made the last game a suck3r.

Reason: Becase I forgot to request to the guys here to help me in getting the attention of the developers.

Re: Max Payne 3
Well there are no developers announced for Max Payne 3 so it's impossible for anyone to get them to see at this stage.
As for a majority of your points, Remedy fully intended Max Payne 2's characters to be the true looks of the characters. Budget was tight in the first game and that's why several characters of that game were simply the people working at Remedy. |

Re: Max Payne 3
I told you guys there would be a Max Payne III. There's no way Take Two is going to spend that kind of money buying the rights to a game and then do absolutely nothing with it. So Max Payne III is either already being worked on (hopefully secretly by Remedy), or maybe Take Two is waiting until the movie release gets closer so they can sell the game rights for a better price. If they are selling the rights, then hopefully either Remedy or 3D Realms will be the ones that buy it and get to work on Max Payne III right away.
Oh, and Remedy would have had Same Lake as Max Payne again in Max Payne II if it weren't for the interference of Take Two. If Remedy or 3DR gets the rights to Max Payne from Take Two, then Same Lake will no doubt be right back as Max Payne. Which is the way it should be, Same Lake *is* Max Payne!

I wonder if the bullet time will still be called like that, now that "Bullet Time" is a Warner Bros trademark.
Maybe they'll call it "focus" like Enter the Matrix did

Re: Max Payne 3
The June issue of EGM will soon begin arriving in subscribers' mailboxes, despite the fact that everyone's fully aware it's only April. But quit debating temporal accuracy and start soaking in the latest down 'n' dirty industry gossip from Quartermann's routinely reliable Rumor Mill.
Just as Grand Theft Auto IV prepares to kick off the hooker-beating season, we hear that publisher Rockstar has plenty of other projects in the works. Max Payne 3 and Red Dead Revolver 2 are headed to both Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, as is the previously PS3-only gumshoe adventure L.A. Noire. Also, a massively multiplayer extension of the GTA universe is in the early stages of development http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3167568 |

Yeah, ignoring a "moral" point of view here - establishing a new IP and then selling it later for a huuuuuuuuuge profit is one of the awesomest things one can do in life. Of course you'd be betraying fans and all but **** THEM!

Re: Max Payne 3
Actually, when asked, Remedy did say that Take Two is the reason Sam Lake wasn't Max in Max Payne II. There was also a "nice" (read: diplomatic) version of the explanation that they gave for why it happened, but it was just that, being diplomatic. The real reason was Take Two's interference. This was all discussed at the time.
Anyhow, here's looking forward to Max Payne III (hopefully made by Remedy)!

Re: Max Payne 3
Not going to happen. Remedy is solely focused on Alan Wake at the moment. Take 2 has the rights to the game and rumours are that Rockstar has been working on it, so if anything, expect an announcement in the next couple of months.

Interesting news about Max Payne 3. I'm not sure it'll be the same without Remedy though.
Thanks. And they enhanced the dark and gritty atmosphere also, if they make a Max Payne 3 they should add nightmare levels and perhaps have some more surrealism like in FEAR with the sudden room-disappearing-reappearing stuff and the odd never ending corridor stuff.

A third Max Payne would be awesome. But, without Remedy handling the project I'm a little skeptic.

Re: Max Payne 3
3D Realms and Remedy sold the Max Payne IP rights to Take Two in 2002, so neither of them will be involved in Max Payne 3.
