My PREY themed Xbox 360 - Almost finshed

In leiu of one of my favorite games I decided to legally mod my xbox 360 with a PREY theme to it. I don't know what inspired me to do so, but I did, and it is turning out really well. All I have to do is wax the box for a mirror shine, and finish one of my etchings that has the 3D Realms logo on it with "P R E Y" underneath. It is a rough draft, and will look great with the blue lighting in my midnight black painted box. I have cut and etched many windows and will post you a series of pictures that describes my progress from finish to near end.

After weeks of debating on what would look best and how I was gonna go about this, I have officially began my PREY WIP! I haven't gotten too far, as I am still waiting for lights, parts, fans, etc, but I have had a pill shaped window cut into the HDD and Lit up with blue LED's, as had the XX Cut out underneath the motherboard and that is lit up with blue LED's as well. Also changed the SMDs on the ROFLs to blue ones. I have included pictures of those, as well as where I plan on putting the logo on the box. I am also going to etch a smaller Hawk logo in the XX plexiglass window that was cut underneath the mobo that will light up nicely because of the blue LEDs. I plan and have included a pic of where I am going to cut the Hawk logo without the lettering on the top side of the box. I plan on etching the plexi behind the cutout to give the hawk a nice glow. I will also cut a rectangular window below the hawk as well....I will be including further pictures and updates as I make cuts and parts arrive, etc. Oh yeah, I plan on using some automotive paint to paint the box midnight black and will polish it when complete! If anyone has suggestions while I keep updating with photos, please feel free to chime in and tell me of something that might look cool.

I had to change the original positioning of the lazerlights to make it look better....in this pic you can see one light to the left of the heatsink, and then the other is to the right of the DVD drive...much better

I don't know what you mean? A stock 360, dremel rotary tool, soldering iron to solder wires to light up cold cathode lights, LEDs, paint, etc.

here is what it looks like with the case and plexi on the system all lit up...in the pics it looks like you can't decipher the "REALMS" part, but you completely can...it is crystal clear, but the camera caught that light at a weird angle.

hahahaha.....Actually, I am a commercial real estate broker in houston and work 10+ hours a day. I only do this when I get off of work, or on the weekends for an hour or 2 max at a time... This project has been underway for 3 1/2 weeks, and thank god it is almost finsihed!

Oh, we've seen it, and thought it looks badass! I was waiting to see it completed before I jumped in and said something.

I passed it on to Human Head, so they're aware of it as well.

Well I decided to make one more 3D Realms and Prey window etch and it turned out the best...IMO, :lol: I hope you guys like it, cuz no matter what, it is going in tonight and I am putting the box together to never be reopened again. I am going to touch it up a little bit more to make it look close to perfect, although it is pretty tough to do so with a steady hand and a dremel going at 30,000 rpm's. I will keep you guys updated with the finished product!

Why don't you make a HumanHead window next? It's their game as well and it's better to have both 3DRealms and Humanhead.

Tip: HumanHead's mascot head might be cool on the window.

I took this one from the Humanhead website. Maybe one of the Humanhead artists can provide a larger and better logo of the studio.

Only problem is I have such little room to work with with such a detailed large logo on my small HDD window....I am finishing the box tonight, corrected some minor lettering issues in that window ( I am posting a pic) and will post pictures of the completed box!

After cursing anything in site during these past 4 weeks, I have finally finished this thing. Most of you know what has been going on, therefore All I want to do is show pictures. BUT the one thing I will say is despite what is shown in a few of the photographs, the bottom window lights up VERY EVENLY, although it may not look so in the pictures. For some reason the camera catches way too much of the light of both CCFLs and disperses it in a weird way. I took the pictures in my completely dark bathroom and that biatch lit up soooo bright! Now, without further adue, the pics...I really hope you guys like them or else y'all will never hear from me again! :lol:

Well that is it...I still have to open back up the box to fiddle around with a few more things, but I hope you guys like....enjoy the pics!
