wide screen
I just got a 1440 x 900 monitor and tried to play max payne. Is there a way to make it so it wont stress the game? So I can atleast play with black blocks on the side or something.

widescreen
I just got a widescreen monitor and i was wondering how do I play games that aren't widescreen without streching the image.

Most of the time, you can't.

www.widescreengamingforum.com is the place for info about WS support in games.

You can't do that in all games, but this site lists those (and how-tos for them) that you can do it with: http://www.widescreengamingforum.com/

Re: widescreen
If you have an Nvidia card you have some scaling options to chose from that will help you out. ATI kinda doesn't bother with it, though on my display 1400x1050 will center properly.

Depending on your monitor, it may have options for scaling as well.

I have Nvidia. Any idea where the option is found?

Also my monitor is a flatron wide 19 inch.

Re: wide screen
Not sure what video card you have but most have an option in the graphic properties to allow you to maintain the aspect ratio.

I have it like that on my laptop so I can play Max Payne in 1024x768 or whatever and it has black borders on the side.

EDIT: Ok not sure why you decided to double post the topic in two different forums but the graphic properties are usually found in Display Properties then the Settings panel, then Advanced and you should see a panel for your graphic card there.. click that are it should have a properties button or allow you to set it there.

PS. This thread is good for Hardware Forums as well, as some may find this usefull there too.

FYI, if you didn't notice, I merged both threads that the starter of this thread posted in more than one location together to make this one.

Sorry about that, I was an idiot and forgot I posted it in the mp2 forums.

But is it one of these options?

Re: wide screen
Yes and no, my advice was for ATI. You wan't the samething for nVidia so there should be something like "Display -> Change Flat Panel Scaling", I really can't point as where as I do not have nVidia card installed.

Do you know if nvidia can actually do this even? Am I wasting my time trying?

Re: wide screen
Which version are you using? It might be that not every version of ForceWare supports those, some have said that FW sometimes misidentify your Digital Flat Panel as a HDTV display, and that would blockout some options. And I am not using nVidia, these are just some information I have tried to gather But I would suggest that you do some research for yourself in the link that Bludd mentioned before.

Re: wide screen
I might have found a solution. I haven't tried it with Max Payne yet, but it works with other non-widescreen games I have. Go here:

http://www.tocaedit.com/forum/dload....gory&cat_id=36

And get the Universal Resolution Changer v2.0. Put all the files it comes with in the same folder as the Max Payne .exe. You'll need to open the .ini file with word pad and then try changing the resolution in the ini and then starting MP. Or as I usually have to do, force Max to play in windowed mode. Just make sure you find a resolution that fits on your screen.

That didn't seem to work for both punisher or max payne 2.
