Still looking for Duke Nukem II saves
I'll give this another try.

I'm looking for saves for all levels in episode 2, 3 & 4 for Duke Nukem II. As there's no warp cheat codes built into the game, there's no easy way to access all the levels.

Unless someone is clever enough to hack the game, or generate save games somehow, the only thing left to do would be to ask for any saves any of you might possibly have.

There's a trainer for enabling warp cheats for the shareware episode (which I haven't tried yet), so I guess I won't need any saves from that episode.

Can't you just play through the game?

You could play thru the game and make the saves yourself.

If you're asking for the source code, no one knows where it is. Provided that it still exists.

Re: Still looking for Duke Nukem II saves
I just want to record the music from within the game with my Sound Blaster 16 card and make a soundtrack out of it. Playing through it all by myself just takes too much time and effort for me. It's bad enough that I must record and fine-tune all the music myself.

If I don't find some way to access all the levels, I will just have to abandon the music recording project for this game.

Then you might want to find the monkey that did the game music.

If you just want the music, extract the music files with Wombat or WinTExtract (I haven't tried Camoto yet) and play them with AdPlug. Or for each extracted music file, rename it to the file name of the music file that is played in the first level, play level 1 and record it that way.

Thanks! I didn't know about Camoto. That looks interesting. I've only used Extractor and Wombat until now. I'll try it and see if I can get it to replace the music in the game.

Edit: I see it's not released yet. I'll have to wait then.

Note that you don't need to put the files back in NUKEM2.CMP, just put them in you Duke Nukem 2 directory. For example, extract the file FANFAREA.IMF rename it to DUKEIIA.IMF and put it in your Duke Nukem 2 folder, now play the game and you'll hear the Apogee fanfare at the main menu.

Oh, that's great! Didn't expect it to actually work. Saves me a lot of trouble :)

Do you know if there's any more games that work with this trick?

This works with Duke3D, I believe. And I think Duke Nukem 1. It won't work with Wolfenstein or Doom.

Most modern games support such replacements too.
