Duke Nukem 3D+ soon on steam !
Duke Nukem 3D + is coming to steam from Devolver Digital !

From the Devolver Digital's twitter:

"Fun little side project we're working on at Devolver Digital : https://vine.co/v/bvPLYeXLu6I "

"It's got some new bells and whistles plus full Steamworks support. More on that later though."

I think they are working on Shadow Warrior+ too.

Kind of redundant if you ask me considering that most people already have this game on GOG.

I suppose i can't talk i own both Alan Wake games on both Gog and Steam for some reason.

Might as well see what makes it "+" worthy. Thanks for the heads up.

Devolver Digital on twitter:

"If we were to release Duke Nukem 3D + three expansions with smoother graphics along with the original on Steam how much should we charge?"

https://twitter.com/devolverdigital

They were giving some steam codes for the game on facebook, so it should be out soon, I guess.

I'd get both, that and Shadow Warrior+ . If they're talking about Caribbean, DC and Winter, it's nice to see they're re-releasing those legally.

So it seems this is developed by the sames guy(s) that did the Shadow Warrior iOS port and they made a post on the Duke4.net forums:

Quote:
Greetings gentlemen,

Let me clarify some things about Duke Nukem 3D+.

Source code
The source code will be released a week after game available in Steam. I don't know where you guys get an idea that we will not open sources. We opened a source code of Shadow Warrior for iOS and we will open source a code of DN3D.
About sources of XBLA version: I don't know why it was not released, but if you want I can try to convince 3D Realms to release it and volunteer myself to prepare it for public release.

Why JFDuke?
We had only two option what we can use as base for DN3D+: EDuke32 and JFDuke. There were couple of reasons to pick JFDuke. The main one is that JFDuke is simpler, because it have less features, so code base is much smaller, smaller code base - much easy to maintain it. Yes, JFBuild has a lot of issues, but we already were familiar with most of them during our work on Shadow Warrior for iOS. We have fixed lot of things and also end up rewriting keyboard/mouse support.

DN3D+ vs EDuke32
DN3D+ is not created to compete with EDuke32, it's different products. DN3D+ is for people who is looking for click-and-play solution. Others, who want to get extra features and ready to spend some time, they will take a GRP file and download Eduke32 + HRP + some modes + etc. I also don't mind to promote EDuke32 on DN3D+ Community Hub. We can put there tutorials how to use GRP files from DN3D+ and play them with EDuke32 and HRP.

Profit for duke4.net community?
TerminX was talking something about GOG commissions they are getting from ads on duke4.net. Valve soon will release open store platform, with that thing it will be posible to get commission from DN3D+ sales. We also will be glad to help promote community maps, mods, projects on DN3D+ Community Hub even if those are not compatible with DN3D+.

DRM
There is no DRM in DN3D+. The only thing for DN3D+ you need to launch Steam, because it's use Steam api for achievements, cloud and etc. But you don't need to login to your steam account to launch it, there is no account lock. And of course no need to launch Steam for dosbox version, which is also bundled in DN3D+.

Other things
- Yes, you can navigate through DN3D+ menu with mouse and keyboard. Later we will add Steam Big Screen support and you will be able to play it with PS3/XBOX360 controllers.
- Initial release will not have multiplayer. Later we'll add multiplayer using Steam api.
- We don't know if we gonna support Steam Workshop, for this it may require to backport some feature from EDuke32, we need to think about it.

We want to deliver good product for casual/mid-core gamers and also give some value to the community. Thanks.

And, apparently, Duke Nukem 3D: Megaton Edition (formerly known as DN3D+) is almost upon us.

I wonder if there will be a Steam release here in Germany?! I don't remember if the game has been unbanned or not in the recent years.

Also, do I want to buy Duke Nukem 3D yet again? Hmmm, I think I do, yes.

Although I'd appreciate a re-release of Shadow Warrior much more at this point.

I thought this would be the right place to ask if the expansion packs a worth buying Duke Megaton on Steam? I own 2 CD-Versions of Duke3d and gog's Atomic edition already, so I'd really only buy it for those...

I would think so. The expansions go for a lot more than 10 bucks on their own.

I didn't think I'd ever visit this place again.

Megaton edition is out now, and I got it right away. It plays pretty well, though it has a few minor issues to contend with. Music crackling, some enemies like to get close to walls, or move through 'em, and there's no multiplayer yet (though word is that they're working on it), but all in all it's not a bad deal.

I'm looking forward to where it'll be in a few weeks when some of these kinks have been worked out.

Bought it yesterday, and I'm loving that I finally have Duke it out in D.C., Life's a Beach, and Nuclear Winter.

However; does anybody else find the mouse kinda floaty? I feel like there's some acceleration going on, and the sensitivity slider isn't doing me any favors..

Yeah, the mouse is floaty. But I think it was like that in Jonof before. Been a while since I played DN3D in a source port.

Also, Nuclear Winter is bad and it's a shame we have to have it included in an otherwise awesome package.

Haven't been here in a while...

Anyway, I had mouse trouble, too. And it's because vsync is turned on and there's no way to turn it off in game. What you can do is open your graphic card's control panel and force it off from there.

After that, I had less problems with mouse aim.
