I personally have not messed with DirectSong, so I can't address it. And the "pain" you speak of is a bit exaggerated. You burn it, rerip it- and the tag names are likely to be there anyway. Someone will have submitted that by then if it's not already in the DB anyway.

Has anyone tried checking their best buys for prey preorder packages? According to the press release they started selling them yesterday, but I checked today for some and I found none. The clerk said they had no idea when they would be coming in, and it was obvious she had no idea what I was talking about.

Oh man... I just learned that I'll be spending my late May-Early June in Texas City (I live in Louisiana) which is when the Limited Edition preorder boxes will be available and I'll be at home when the game actually releases in July. This means I'll have to preorder at a Best Buy somewhere in Houston and then wait for my Dad to pick it up from there when he comes home to visit.

Of course this could be taken care of by buying it through Triton but I just can't pass up on this Limited Edition version. I wish some online retailer sold the PC LE version.

So are there 3 versions of the game?

LCE - (DVD) with the pewter figurines, but only in North America
CE - (DVD) same, but without the figurines
and SE - (CD) with no collectibles

Is that right, or am I confused with this?

How about Spain?
I'd want to ask you whether here in Spain I could pre-order the Prey Collector's Edition and get the Mutate figurine or not. By the way, I'd like to know if the worldwide release covers our country or not too.
Thank you

Falcon,

As we mentioned in another thread, we don't really know what the status of the LCE is in other territories. At present, we only know that the announced Collector's edition is for North America. We've asked 2K if they could please find a way to repeat the collector's edition in Europe, and they are trying, but it has to be worked out with retailers in Europe. At present, there will be DVD versions sold in Europe and they will have a metallic case, but we don't know on the Collector's edition. You can pre-order from a US vendor who will import it to Spain. Even the US version will allow you to pick the language you want to play in.

As for the worldwide release, yes, Spain is part of that release date and 2K Spain is getting theirs the same time as the rest of Europe and North America. We are also localizing the menus and subtitles into Spanish (though in all regions, the spoken voice will be in English).

That would require a whole bunch of new actors, and they should record every single Dialog from the game... And it has to be good actors aswell... That's not an easy task...

I'm glad there are subtitles though... It's often that i didn't recognize what people say, so i can read it instead...

it is right what you say.
Normally the FPS sold in Italy have also the translate voice. An example is Sin: emergency and first Max Payne and Max Payne 2. I task that the FPS are fast games and not is time to read to the subtitles them.
Therefore the risk is to get lost part of the history and the phrases of Tommy.

Still, most FPS games don't have that many lines as prey. And it costs a lot of time and money. Personally, I am against dubbed voices, but I am from holland and we get english only anyway.

Re: Prey Pre-order!
I live in Australia but I'd like to get the LCE of Prey for PC. I have been looking for an online store that lists it for pre-order but cannot find one. The only online stores seem to have a DVD version but it does not say LCE. Can someone point me to an online store where I can order the LCE for PC please?

Well, probably they still think that the european game market is not big enough for it. But they usually forget that there are over 500 million people living in europe compared to 200 in the U.S.

(granted that a lot of those 500 can't afford a computer capable of playing prey, but they will in a few years be on par with the rest)

From what I've gathered so far, you have to go to a retail store in North America to pick up the Limited Collectors Edition along with the Figurines. Guess us Aussies, along with the rest of the world, are currently stuffed.

If you're really dedicated, you could probably ring a shop in the U.S. and ask them to ship it to you.

And thanks to Human Head for their continued attempts to get the LCE released in other regions, its really appreciated.

Re: Prey Pre-order!
I preordered the Prey DVD edition on EBGames 2 days back. But from what I saw on the Prey pre-order page on the official site, the PC collector's edition is the only one that has the game on DVD and the Standard Edition is supposed to be on CD ROM.

Does that mean I have ordered the PC Collector's edition ? If not should I cancel this pre-order and wait for EBGames to offer the Collector Edition and then place another pre-order again.

Thanks,
Ashwin

That way i can make sure my order is correct, just by judging if it's DVD or not...

I certainly hope the EB Games store i'm going to look at has this one ready by the time i'm ordering it...
