Story:
ENM opens in a small New England town recently quarantined due to a mysterious out break.Poison red Vines spread quickly,simultaneously strangling and terraforming the environment,not to mention mutating nearby plants and animal life.The Spore causing all this is not from space;they are actually trying to stay away from sci-fi cliches.The Spore is caused by man's ongoing and abusive tampering with nature her self.The Lead character happens to be at the ground zero along with four other characters that he will team up with along the way.The Primary thrust of gameplay surrounds the nucleus of the human interaction,which is the ensemble cast.Each character is fully realized,with their own back stories,personalities,motivations,and secrets.You will get to see real character growth.ENM will have no cutscenes,the game uses a conversation mechanic that will rival Mass Effect.Players will work alongside allies in a manner more along the lines of HL2 instead of Rainbow6,with everything to puzzle solving to attacks.In addition to the ability to play through the entire campaign via online co-op,ENM will allow players to jump into others games posing as an enemy(im guessing like The Crossing).Recoil and 3d Realms know they are talking about the game a little early,but it's all part of the plan.Also ENM runs on the UE3.

From the art and some of the other things they show it looks like a Fps with a lot of character interactions.They say its like Aliens,War of the Worlds,Terminator,28 Days later,and The Thing all put together.

btw: i remember the news that recoil games was founded etc end of last year or so...they wanted to become one of the best devs in the world they choosed the right company to accomblish this!

hm i'm wondering if this is the game that's gonna be revield around E3 or the one end of this year. Because Raphael van Lierop is working in Vancouver and Recoil Games is in Finnland time will tell

ICQ/AIM/Googletalk/MSN/Skype, etc aswell as email, snail mail(probably used VERY little) and visits from Vancouver to Finnland(I am assuming Helsinki) as well from visits from Finnland(again probably Helsinki) to Garland and/or Vancouver.

That helps alot. Especially considering that Raphael does nothing BUT work with 3rd party games. So he can travel alot more than George and probably even Scott. He hasn't got a company to run or anything like that.

I kind of hoped I wouldn't see the 3DRealms logo again on any game boxes until DNF came out.

Nobody said you would or wouldn't. But one thing is for sure, when a gmae company start 3-4 games within a year while it as another big one coming been in development for several years, it is unavoidable that they will be hyping up to several games at the same time.

Heck, Raph even said as much with one announcement being in 4-6 weeks and another in 4-6 months.

I thought "Earth no more" would be the subtitle for Prey 2, but it looks I was wrong. One more game to make the wait for DNF more bearable. 2009, eh? I wonder if it will be Vista-only (I hope not...)

Well I wouldn't be surprised if this was shown at E3, but the very blurb that SyntaxN quotes in his OP says:

I don't know really what that is supposed to mean.

So it is U3E, should be interesting. And when DNF is released, you can compare how U3E compares to the Duke Engine.

The game concept sounds interesting; the MP aspect really sounds neat although the potential of all sorts of yelling and screaming is high:

Those movies were exactly what the descriptions reminded me of. Also,
