Re: Turnaround key in DNF?
accually all these things can be done script wise. just think of a multiple move and script it. The one eighty is an easy one and changing the mouse sensativity should be easy to.

Re: Turnaround key in DNF?
It's sort of been done before.
I think some shooters (don't remember which, maybe Quake 2?) let you change sensitivity on the fly, so binding a macro to a key is basically the described feature. Also some mice, like the Logitech G5, have buttons that let you switch between a few pre-set sensitivities.

Re: Turnaround key in DNF?
Even if the majority of people won't use it, I'm sure it's not that hard for 3DRealms to implement it. Could be useful.

Some mice have this feature built in. Personaly I don't use it as I rather have more gameplay functions on the mouse then dedicate buttons to changing sensitivity. Edit: All games with an aim button would arguably do it to. |

As for a turnaround key I don't see the point as i use the mouse to turn in a split second. Breaking new info! Please tell us more! 3DR won't tell us anything!

Re: Turnaround key in DNF?
Even the cheese part?
Hmmm, it seems most people don't see the use for a Turnaround key, and some people do (want it). So, it's a matter of how much time 3DR is willing to spend on a feature that will only benefit a minority (if I'm estimating correctly). Also it's a matter if they're even aware of this thread's existence.

Re: Turnaround key in DNF?
I think the mouse-sensitivity issue depends on the game. Assuming DNF focuses more of guns-blazing type fire-fights rather than "dodge the sniper" game-types then I suspect fewer people will use low-mouse sensitivity.
Counter Strike as I understand it will have people using lower sensitivity because there is more instant killing in that game, so accurate shots are more of a requirement to get head-shots to quickly despatch enemies. In DNF I'm hoping that hit-locations (such as head-shots) will be in, but that there will be few, if any, sniper type weapons so head-shots won't be the focus of a game. More that if you aim for the head with a machine gun then you've a better chance of taking someone out quickly. |

Re: Turnaround key in DNF?
The Unreal Tournament series games make head shots count for 200% of the original damage the weapon does, but it only counts for the Sniper Rifle-type weapons and regular pistol-type weapons.
Discriminating the weapons helps making the game more fast-paced in general than it would be if it worked with every weapon.

Re: Turnaround key in DNF?
I remember that too, but I think it was around the time the previous trailer was released.
Not the last one, but the one before that. After enough time passes, even official statements can't generally be taken for the absolute truth any more. As long as they aren't too bad, I can't blame developers for that either, games simply evolve throughout their development cycle.

Re: Turnaround key in DNF?
I don't think too many games have evolved as much as DNF has, though.

Re: Turnaround key in DNF?
Pedro, you needed much more than a turnaround key back when I destroyed you in Duke3d. It is a good thing you moved onto shadow warrior after realizing you could not compete with the big guys and "doom gods" such as myself.

Re: Turnaround key in DNF?
Binds like these are banned from competition, usually. In Q4MAX leagues, you aren't even allowed to bind different sensitivities to different guns!
