Not worried about previews - I know what the game is like.

Give us the game, and make sure it is a simultaneous worldwide release.

I believe it's a simultaneous release, but will check.

We're just trying to take advantage of waiting for our release spot by doing all the previews we can, for people that don't refresh these forums daily! If you want to help, spread the word to your friends. Remember, this is a grass roots release without a million dollar marketing budget.

I can assure you all my friends know. Almost all of my friends have Battlefield: Bad Company, and either NCAA 09 or Madden 09. Funny thing is, most of them have never owned a BF or football game, or aren't very big football fans. I do work

I just want a release date at this point lol. Or banner ads when I crank up my xbox...

There's a pretty big spread in the skill levels (1-4), and the game defaults to 2, I think. 3 is a challenge if you aren't careful and 4 is brutal.

Hahaha that guy playing was terrible! And that girl was annoying "how do you pick up weapons? Is that all there is?" haha. But it's true what they say when Xbox Live is great for revisiting these classics that otherwise would never bother being brought back to the modern day audience since they're so dated from today's games.

But Duke Nukem 3D is awesome, and I'm just pumped to finally get to play it again- and like never before!

I noticed how easy enemies go down...
Could it be that the Dame yo deal has been increased, or the health of the enemies decreased..?

I know for a fact that 4 pistol shots kill an Assault Trooper, and 6 and Assault Captain...
And those kicks were like only 2 kicks to kiil a trooper... Which usually took like 5-6

Is this something that has been 'watered down' a bit for console purposes, or something that the difficulty skill level changes in this version of Duke3D..? Because the P version doesn't add or take health values or damage i reckon... At least not to an extend where i would have noticed it...

That's one of the very few design changes we made to the game. The kick damage. Once the kick was put on the left trigger, it became a major part of combat. You'd run up shooting and kick to finish the job. The original kick was far too weak, and modern shooters, and even Shadow Warrior, tend to make melee damage pretty powerful to balance the risk vs reward.

Well i really like the change, the kick in the regular PC version of Duke3D and Atomic edition Were really just, weak, and didn't feel all that usefull as a las resort weapon... I Usually used it to break stuff or to kick half-dead troopers...

I probably am asking fo too much, but i'd love seein a patch fter all these years for Duke3D, with all these features/changes as optional additions...

Yeah, one of the entire ideas of this project was to pretty much leave well enough alone. Duke3D worked great when we last fiddled with it in 1996, so there was no need to do that. But as George stated, the boot power was increased a bunch. The game also no longer says "Mighty Foot Engaged" when you actually USE the boot, either - it seemed silly. The only other change like that I can think of is that drinking of water for health now gives you 5% health instead of just 1%, so you don't have to stand there all day healthing up from a fire hydrant.

The changes aren't really big, but even those small changes are things that bugged me a little in the game...
I really did hate standing all day drinking water from a broken pipe or hydrant as well...

Another small thing that was a tidbit annoying, was the automatic stomping on shrunk enemies... It really sucks if you shrink one or two out of three guys, and happen to engang the last guy up close, only to start a stomping animation, and getting shot at...

Well, i wouldn't know if this was somehow changed as well in this version, but that particular feature bugged me too, i'd have preferred pressing use when standing near an enemy who was shrunk... At least have some control over that stomp

hmm, actually, don't you guys keep an actual list of the changes somewhere (change-log i guess ..?) -- Would be really nice to see what precisely was added, changed, and so on...

At least at some time of the games' release maybe..?

That still happens.

No, not like that. Really, there was little that was changed from the old game, we tried not to touch it except for the two things mentioned above, or unless we ran into a bug that affected gameplay. But you're going to think you're playing the same game. Little has changed, really. Things added on (like the replay system) are obviously new, but don't go looking for changes. You won't find much.

That's why the walkthrough I'm working on works for both the 360 and the PC game.

Both the stronger boot and more health from the hydrants sound like a good idea to me!
I recall changing the boot to a key closer to my movement keys so I could use it easier, but it still wasn't as useful as I'm sure it is now.
And the waiting all day to recharge for free using a fire hydrant in the past sounds really familiar as well.

I remember tweaking around with the damage values for the PC version of Duke Nukem 3D. It was somewhere in a CON file. I bumped up the pistol so it was strong enough to blow away the Octobrains and throw them across the map. I think I tweaked up the foot kick as well. I guess that would be considered "cheating", but it was something fun to do after beating the game.

I did miss the "Russian dance" you could get when you had both feet kicking at the same time. I think that was in the original 1.3 version, but the Atomic version took that out.
