Check out the source code on that Prey website
Viewing the source code on the page shows a line of binary code. Translated, it says:

"Hiding things in the source code is so 20th century. If you're looking for more info: PC Gamer. June issue. Worldwide debut".

Hehehe - this is kinda like what Valve did prior to HL2's release by burying messages in the source code.

That's cool. I really really hope this game has substance (3DR's signature really) over style... I can't help it though I'm a little skeptical, HumanHead studios isn't really that great of a developer. :/

I'm not sure whether you guys noticed this, since many people tend to check the source right away with those teaser sites, but there is even a clue about it at the bottom right of the site.

I wonder what the other stuff could mean, like that message about the smallest monkey in the phillipines...

i'm currently looking at the columns with random words.

the left side i think you have to pick two that match up leaving the odd word out.

dirtbox
cats
friends
enemies
spheres-odd one out

the hidden
the found
the lost
the indigenous
wildebeasts-odd one out

elhuit
inuit
celibate
levitate
keeper-odd one out

hmm

And the columns on the right? If you try to maybe match the words with the odd one out from the left column?

Animals
Monsters
The Hidden (Spheres)?
Grandfather
Shaved Heads

Goon
Jenny
Schlmo
Bergmanator (wild beast)?
Bassmaster

Reservation
Talon (Keeper)?
Sissy
Maya
Birthday Cakes

I dunno... I'm too old for this crap!

Well, so far Talequah is spelt wrong. The actual place name is Tahlequah. It comes from the phrase

Quote:

Tah-le-ya-quah, meaning two is enough to decide.

or "two are enough" and is cherokee in origin.

Also found (i think) about bergmanator.

Bergmanator seems to be a nickname of someone in texas. I found their website... i don't know if it's a skitting name or something, but it's not a common thing to be saying. Although i don't know exactly what it refers to.

You can see the website using the Wayback Machine.

It doesn't seem to have anything to do with Prey.

I think you picked up the wrong website. That's the person who references the other - "bergmanator". She's called Julia or Jules.

Besides, what i picked up from it was that it seems to be a localised Texas {nick}name. I've certainly never heard it before. It may be based on a surname or something. As i said, it seems that 3DR took "local" folklore and "local" customs and put it in.

Maybe it's supposed to be a single phrase and not some word-jumble with a few irrelevant words, instead most of the words are useless and only one or two from each is section is needed. My mind can't grasp concepts beyond simple so this is all I could come up with, using just one word from each of the three sections.

"The hidden wildbeasts levitate."

It does that to me when I have Run ActiveX controls and plugiins disabled. But if it's enabled, it works correctly.

(Explanation and rant: I keep this disabled to turn off Flash, which is really annoying with those stupid advertisements that cover up whatever web page you're reading...)

Re: Check out the source code on that Prey website
It looks like the message has changed. I checked the index.html file for any hidden things, since i noticed it redirected you to coming-soon.html. I thought no one would bother to check it. I translated it and it reads:

"Evil draws near. From beyond the veil of the world you understand. You cannot turn your back on your heritage any longer. From it you will draw strength. All your life you have rejected the ways of your ancestors. The beliefs of your people. But now you must embrace them, if you are to survive."

I thought it was something we all overlooked, but all three read the same. (comingsoon.html, coming-soon.html and index.html)

The index.html file that redirects you to the flash page falls back to: http://apps5.oingo.com/apps/domainpa...ent=netw8744&s if you dont have flash installed.
Code:
 if(is_Flash6up){
    var ran_unrounded=Math.random()*4;
    var ran_number=Math.round(ran_unrounded);

    if(ran_number<2){
