Re: Favorite Duke 3D DukeMatch levels?
If I had to guess, I would assume that this question was asked in order to help decide which maps would be allowed in ranked DM. Any map can be played in regular old unranked DM, but the ranked games on XBLA are only played on a specific selection of maps.

However, we were asked about our favourite maps, so plain old "fun" maps could end up higher in the ranking than the more competitive/"fair" maps. I assume that would be the idea for ranked games.

Re: Favorite Duke 3D DukeMatch levels?
I never played much Dukematch games.....most of them, if not all were on the N64 version.
Anyway: 1. Duke Burger 2. Hotel Hell 3. Spin cycle I can't think of any others but really any map where you can somewhat circle the place and have multiple entrances / routes into the building so there were never a dead end you could get stuck in.

Re: Favorite Duke 3D DukeMatch levels?
Rabid Transit
The only bad levels would be some of the space ones - many of them where so big, you could run around for hours and not bump into anyone. Of course, now we can have 8 players, this will be less of a problem. Can't wait for this.

Re: Favorite Duke 3D DukeMatch levels?
We still don't know if this was asked (just) for the new DN3D, or (also) for level remakes in DNF, but if the latter is true...
And if there's a chance Shadow Warrior levels could happen, I'd also like to see a recreation/re-imagining of Heavy Metal.

Re: Favorite Duke 3D DukeMatch levels?
I've only really had extensive playings of the N64 version, so bear with me
1) Fahrenheit. My all-time favorite duke map. I used to set some tripmines in the building's entrance, and camp upstairs with a shotgun and explosive shells. 2) Rapid Transit. I used to ride back and forth on the train with the grenade launcher, laughing when any stupid dukebots or human players were dumb enough to be on the track. My second favorite level. 3) Hotel Hell. I don't know about duke 3D, but the N64 version had a very amusing glitch that caused the elevator to drop below the bottom floor, and keep on going. It variated speeds, and watching the wall texture on the inside of the elevator made your head spin :P 4) Piracy. A castle, a ship, and lots of water made for some interesting moments, to be sure... Randomly spamming grenades off the edge of the ship :P 5) Shaft. Tripmine mayhem, need I say more? I loved the sheer verticality of the level... and all the hard to reach places :P |
