Nothing to clarify - I don't know. Wolf was done before I worked here. I bought this game as a customer. If I tried to ask the guys now about it, I'm pretty sure the repsonse would be something like "don't remember - who cares?"

I remember the "My namen" part from childhood. At first I thought he desperately wanted me to know his name ("My name is..."), or he was referring to the part of his body I had shot (i.e. Ow! My "namen"!). I didn't speculate what body part a namen was.

Id didn't try very hard with the German voices. The people who recorded those clips obviously did not speak German, as there are huge pronunciation errors everywhere. It's like they took a bunch of people off the street, handed them papers with stuff written in German, and had the people try to recite them...which was probably what happened. I cringe everytime I hear the brown guard's mangling of "Achtung!"

I always thought the brown guard said, "Achtung!" and I always thought the SS guards said, "Goose Bubble!". I also thought the SS guard said, "Mein Leiben!" when they died. I didn't get very far so I never heard what the bosses and other enemies said.

Why not? The Schutzstaffel (SS for short) simply was a multi-purpose organization of the Third Reich. I believe it's still quite common for the members of police forces or military organizations to try to stop somebody by just shouting the name of the organization they belong to, eg. "Police!" or "FBI!"

@Joe: FYI, it's written "Mein Leben!", not "Mein Leiben!".

And the SS guards in Wolf3D yell "Schutzstaffel!" (elite guard) When they spot you. And they yell "Mein Leben!" (My life) upon death.

While pronunciation errors were noticible but I didn't care. When I first got Wolf3D back in 93 my mom and dad were the ones that pointed out all the different speech used in the game.

Thouse mac/jaguar sprites and textures look like there at 2 times the dos "resolution". Could anyone export them? Because now there is an engine update mod for wolf that allows bigger sprites and textures. The wolf community would be verry happy with the mac/jaguar sprites.

No one says that.

The SS says "Mien Leben" which translates to "My Life" which sounds pretty wrong.

Google translation said that "Mein Laben" means "My Refreshing."
