Duke Nukem 64 has the best version of Grabbag.
Don't argue, cuz you know I'm right.

I think vertexguy's version is the best.

Duke Nukem for GBC!
Seriously though, no I don't agree because it's only a looping incomplete piece of the full song.

DNMP - The best.
Although Duke 3D for PC is good if you have a SoundCanvas or a Gravis to play it on like me (Grins arrogantly) But i doubt it matters anyway, as Grabbag is just an epic tune anyway.

Dont get me wrong, yours sounds a little bit more modern, but it doesnt have that X factor that the megadeath/vertex does needs more of a punch. |

Re: Duke Nukem 64 has the best version of Grabbag.
I know this a little off topic but I think the music from the Sega Saturn version of Duke 3d had the best music.

Re: Duke Nukem 64 has the best version of Grabbag.
That's the same track that's on the Atomic CD as redbook audio IIRC; Lee Jackson's developed Grabbag as recorded from the SC-88, I believe.

I can't stand the techno stuff from Total Meltdown. Ruins the original soundtrack to me.

Re: Duke Nukem 64 has the best version of Grabbag.
Is there a collection of all of the versions from all releases? I'd like to compare them. I've heard some, but probably not all.
I think Vertexguy's version is the best grabbag I've heard, but I'd like to hear all the official versions too. |

Re: Duke Nukem 64 has the best version of Grabbag.
There's a guy on YouTube (caboose something or other his name is) whose channel is pretty much dedicated to different renditions of the Grabbag them. Do a search and I'm sure you'll find him. He's got mostly everything there including VertexGuy's and my Grabbag Mega-Mix.

Re: Duke Nukem 64 has the best version of Grabbag.
Speaking of Duke music... I have replayed PC Duke with midi music turned on after ten years and I have to admit (sadly) that Duke music is really bad, mediocre at best. I like the Grabbag, Fahrenheit music, but the rest... ID Sofware's music is better, no doubt.

LAW, some of Duke's music sounds terrible with modern soundcards. ID's music did fare quite a bit better.

Maybe. But I remeber the music from the past and I didn't like it. I love the PSX Duke soundtrack...

Re: Duke Nukem 64 has the best version of Grabbag.
This thread contains the original midis recorded the way they were intended to be heard. Its a vast improvement.
