Re: Duke Forever Jar
i started saving a long time ago - i put a quid in for every time i thought it would come out - but all that resulted from this was i had a big novelty coca-cola money box (shaped like a massive bottle) stuffed full of pound coins and no money to buy other stuff.

you should buy one copy and use the rest of it to upgrade your system when it comes out

You will probably find that the last level is a huge arena level. At the end, for the post-boss cinematic, the camera will pull out to reveal that the arena was built on a huge circular metallic plain with a huge slot in the middle - the top of the change jar!

@ Malgon - that wouldn't work. You would go out and buy a Cray supercomputer and complete the game in 12 minutes after viewing the opening cinematic - all without any comprehension of how you did it as it went through your new phat system like balsa fire hydrant in a wood chipper.

Then you would be sat there wondering what to do for the NEXT 10 years as we were all getting to grips with the control system.

I haven't been here for a long, long time, well over a year. I can't believe this game is still being promised. I don't mean to be mean or ignorant and I have really enjoyed Duke Nukem games over the years. I realize companies run into problems so I just don't believe we will see this game. If we do, how can any game compete with the hype and 10 year wait???

At some point in the game, Duke should fire an RPG off and it hits this huge glass tower. There is a huge earthquake and a ginormous quarter rolls past down a side corridor.

Re: Duke Forever Jar
If I saved one penny every day for the past 12 years, I could buy Duke at 39.99 or be a few dollars away from 49.99 (We still have time left )

My "Jar" is ready, it is a former 5 litre tub of water. I'm doing this as an experiment more than anything since I know I will have enough for DNF regardless.

I also plan to ask friends to "donate" any spare pennies that they don't want purely to see how much money I can make by WID or when the tub is full. If I can burrow a digital camera of a friend I might take a pic of it if anyone is curious on how big it is.

I had a vision of saving quarters since 1995 in a huge glass jar on a shelf in your bedroom closet.

"It's Done" is finally announced. You run to the closet and reach up to pull down the jar so you can run to Gamestop/Walmart/PC World to get your copy of DNF. Just as the jar tips over the edge, you realize how many quarters we are talking about here. That is just before the jar crushes your skull flat.

On your tombstone:

IT'S FINALY DONE
HE'S DONE FINALY

Re: Duke Forever Jar
I had one of these... I started it in 1998 when I was still in high school. Around 2001 I was in college and making enough money that I didn't need a savings jar just for DNF, so I emptied it out, put all the change into rolls and deposited the money at the bank.

If I remember correctly my jar had about 180 dollars in it at the time. I wonder how much would be in there if I had just let it continue until now
