To be honest, the footage looks good (I'm going PSP) even for an early build, I'm eager to try out a near finished one.

Two locations have been confirmed so far: New York(including Manhattan and Brooklyn) and Area 51(which looks to take up a very large portion of the game).

Finally we might get some new Duke Nukem!
That is it! I am getting a PSP and a DS...
Seems like years... oh... wait... it HAS been years. I got Duke Nukem: Bikini Project for my cell phone last. And of course I have the Grab-Bag theme on my cell phone. I just set it for all events.
It is great to think these new ways to experience Duke Nukem are on the way. I will get them all, as with most any Duke Nukem game or related item.

My next reaction is... will they port to PS2 like Liberty City Stories and Vice City Stories. That was a great marketing idea to me. I was very happy with both of the those ports though many were not... I suppose it will come down to sales on the initial platforms.

This is more exciting than DNF to me because it feels more "real" and more obtainable. DNF has such a rep to live up to at this point it will be under a lot of pressure to be epic... an issue not expected from these new Apogee releases. They won't be taking themselves too seriously I am sure. A release time frame was even mentioned. That is new and refreshing to me.

Okieday...Apogee's forums have been down for over a week, and this thread is dead, so....Let's jumpstart the discussion!

RECAP TIME!
Confirmed weapons:
Desert Eagle, Pump-Action Shotgun, Sniper Rifle, Pipebomb, Mighty Boot

MP features:

Co-Op(DS Exclusive)

Deathmatch/Duke-style exclusive MP type(PSP Exclusive)

Game details:
PSP version rated M, due to PSP's more mature audience.

DS version is rated T. Don't fret though, let's remember that Duke Nukem Advance was rated T. It can be done!

36 levels broken up into 9 distinct locations for a total of 12+ hours of SP gameplay for both PSP and DS.

Story
Takes place in the future.

Duke is somehow responsible for the alien invasion.

If I understand things correctly it's in the same sense he was responsible for the invasion in Duke 3D. He was not around to stop them.

But if Duke is destined to travel right back to the present time to fend off the invasion, wouldn't the whole mess already be solved in the future so Duke would have no reason for going back to save the day again in the first place??

Most devs that promised online play on the PSP end up making it LAN only.

TTK deserved an M rating because throwing an ax or burning people is kind of graphic esp. when they shrivel to the ground.

They started work on the second game in the trilogy

Thats good news, because it means the first one is a lot farther along than I thought, and September seems like a reasonable release month

I wonder what all the "tons of new" features they're putting in the next one are

I hope it's not a short game.

Short levels are fine for portable games, but not a short game as a whole.

No, I don't think that's what he was referring to. I'm pretty sure he means the shoulder looks overly-bulgy, which I agree to.

Maybe Duke went overboard with the 'roids for that photoshoot pictorial??

Possibly to overcompensate for the cancellation of DNF?

I mean, if the new Duke game was released with some skinny little runt on the cover, it might lose quite a few sales even if it were the best handheld DNF alternative conceivable.

We don't want to turn around to see Duke flipping burgers at Mickey D's now, do we?

The economy is tough, but seriously........

~120$ to 250$+

All for just one game (trilogy)

I'd just go for the cheaper version.

Supposedly Critical Mass has 36 levels for a total of 12+ hours of SP gameplay.

No, I think those numbers were in reference to the entire trilogy as opposed to Critical Mass alone.

Even so, that would mean 4 hours per game (I think - im tired, so its hard to do math) which is long enough...

Hmm, probably take gamers like me half as long to complete though
