Yes, it is HL. The first chapter of HL is called Anomolous Materials, hence the map name.

The best part about the beginning of HL was the immersion created by the cinematic intro and all of the interaction with the scientists and environment. The layout of the level does not lend itself to especially good gameplay, nor was that the intent. It was supposed to feel like a real, secret underground research facility.
I'm curious as to whether this is going to be a vanilla map, or whether you have something more ambitious planned.

I think it's just supposed to be a recreation of the Half-Life Chapter. Think of it as a "museum map". Maybe a few enemies and weapons could be thrown in and an ending sector.

No, I don't have anything ambitious planned. It'll just be a vanilla map (or map pack maybe). Something you can play in DOS Duke, which is how I'm making it actually. Not using Mapster32 or anything. Aliens take over Black Mesa and all that. Nothing special. I just thought it would be a fun project to work on in my spare time and to learn more about Build mapping (I haven't ever really created a complete map before). And I love Half-Life and thought it would be just cool to see in Duke3D.

If you're trying to learn about mapping, it seems masochistic to be using the old editor instead of Mapster32.

Well, at the time my wife was using my main computer so my 486 was the only one available to me. Since then it's just become something I do on my 486 when my wife is using my main computer.
