Re: Max Payne 3
It's one of those cases where you want to be excited, but really don't want to be at the same time. Hope they don't ruin the franchise too badly, as in make it at least a decent game.

Some people won't like the game whether it is good or not just because Remedy is not involved. Others like me will enjoy it for what it is. Bring on the Payne!

Re: Max Payne 3
How has the series been ruined? The movie did suck but how does that ruin the series? Whether you liked it or not there is no denying that MP2 was a quality production and you know nothing about MP3. You seem to be jumping the gun.

Re: Max Payne 3
I thought this might be of interest.
Attachment 1 is from the photoshoot of Max Payne 2. Attachment 2 is the Max Payne 3 image superimposed on an enlarged version of the photo (flipped horizontally). Attachment 3 is the same image, but I've adjusted the translucency to make it clearer. As you can see, the facial features -- eyes, brows, nose, mouth, and ears line up almost perfectly. There's some artistic licence, but I think Timothy Gibbs is still Max, and if the photo is correct, then he still has a full head of hair (hopefully).

That actually looks like Ethan Thomas from Condemned 2 more than Max.

Re: Max Payne 3
I think it looks exactly like the Max from Max Payne 2, just older. If you take away the beard and a few wrinkles you have MP2 Max.
On another note, what is he wearing? His arms look to be bare, so is he wearing a wifebeater and suspenders?

Re: Max Payne 3
Aren't you guys wondering where they can take the plot without making it silly and forced? I mean honestly. Remember Godfather part III? That's what I'm saying.
Not to mention Max Payne 2's ending seemed like such a conclusive period to the story: Spoiler:

Yeah.
From what they've said so far, it seems they are going off the ending where Mona dies.

Re: Max Payne 3
TBH the same could have been said when MP2 was announced. To some degree I feel that the MP2 story is ridiculous, but it managed to capture the atmosphere from the first game. To me it is much more viable to take off from the MP2 ending than it was to take off from ending to the original. I really have no doubts that R* Vancouver will make a fun and quality game from a gameplay perspective. The question lies in if they can capture the atmosphere and story telling that makes the MP series so great.

Re: Max Payne 3
That's great news. And I think Rockstar will make a worthy addition to the franchise, but I'm also certain they will make decisions that will piss off a lot of the hard-core fans. I just hope this time around Rockstar will treat the PC gaming crowd with the respect they deserve.

Yep.
The studio behind Bully. That, IMO, is not very encouraging.

Re: Max Payne 3
Allow me to ask a few rhetorical questions;
When was the last time Rockstar games released any editing tools for their games? When was the last time they developed a game for the PC (not a console port)? |

Re: Max Payne 3
Max Payne 2 was released on three platforms on the same day. If the third game is built for all three systems at once and released on the same day... should be fine.
But after the mess that was the PC release of GTA4, (even though it's a different Rockstar studio) peopel may not be so willing to trust Rockstar's PC releases.

Re: Max Payne 3
That is the best looking Max yet. Finally looks more hardened and well, badass. Now as long as 3 isn't as repetetive as the first 2, I may be interested.

Re: Max Payne 3
It is probably not co-incidental that is is being done by them. Originally Bully was being made by Rockstar Vienna. But they closed down and moved Bully to Rockstar Vancouver. When the original MP3 rumors appeared it was said to be in development at Rockstar Vienna.

Because Console games in general outsell PC games by a great margin. (I assume)
Don't fret though, it's on PC. Says so in the press release.

Yeah I just find it kind of weird they wouldn't put that kind of information on the official site. Unless they think they can pull another GTA4 and just deny it.

Re: Max Payne 3
Too early to say what this game is going to be like. But without Remedy and 3DR I wasn't looking forward to another studio potentially destroying MP. I hope they at least attempt to evolve the game rather than just making a game that doesn't resemble max payne at all.

Re: Max Payne 3
WOW... Awesome...
I wonder if they're going to use the same engine as GTA IV... Can't wait to start shooting bad guys in blurry, unshaded rooms while the buggy engine tries so hard to load the proper texturing... As well as having fun trying to dodge bullets while the gameplay stutters because of memory leaks and a badly coded and very badly optimised engine. Can't wait... (stands impatiently)... The GTA IV engine HAS potential.... as long as they ******* work out the bugs... Having said that - it would be so ******* cool if they kept the video editor with Max Payne.... That would just be.... truly... (drools) |

It looks like an older face model of Timothy Gibbs. He just looks like an even older John McClane on Live Free Or Die Hard.

Re: Max Payne 3
I hope Max doesn't become The Punisher. He better have a reason to kill people in MP3. In both previous games he was built as someone that would kill those who stood in his way to revenge, not as a Charles Bronson (Death Wish)-style character that goes out of his way to kill criminals and correct the wrongdoings in society because it's "his philosophy".
