It looks "bad" I agree... but has anyone played it? If it is fun, then I can deal with the mediocre graphics.

Re: Duke Nukem: Critical Mass Thread
O hay internets - You mean this game?

If I can put my little review it would be like this:
+ very good music
+ its a platformer (hurray!)
+ sharp controls and stylus control integration
+ good cover system
+ good sniping system
+ good jetpack gameplay
- average 3D graphics (yeah I know it is DS but there DS games with good 3D graphics like Metroid or CoD) pretty lousy models and textures
- Duke moves stiff like a abrams tank or a cripple with wooden legs, while controls are good he look
- animation is not so good (far below DNMP)
- the worst PEGI12 - so no blood, no gibs, no raunchy duketalk...

To summarize game is like a DNMP but without things that made DNMP great (the puns, duketalk, violence). It tries with new things but people who remember the obscene naughty Duke will only get frustrated. If You are looking for juvenile humour and violence You will not get it. If You are looking for a decent platformer You found it. This is not a groundbreaking game of any sort. On the dukescale if:

1 - Duke Nukem Mobile
9 - Duke Nukem 3D
10 - Duke Nukem Manhattan Project

DNCM would probably be like 6. For non-duketards game will be like 5. This is a Duke Nukem game but with very little of Duke.

No sorry I just came with the game in my hand and posted some pics asap as I started playing. You can rotate them Yourself - they are pretty crappy anyways (blackberry doesn't make good photos and making DS caps is pretty impossible on it).

Maybe it changed, but the linked article currently shows 25th release date for North America.

Hmmm... Thursday is the 26th. That seems odd because new game release day for the US is normally Tuesday.

I was wondering also... I AM buying it just because it is a Duke Nukem game.
And when I do, I will review the game as a gamer, a Duke Fan and a DS Gamer that has played Metroid Prime. (is that EVEN fair?)

I am working some right now, so even if I get it next week I am not sure I will have time to review it. Soon though.

I do understand that reaction... I felt the same way as the whole public situation was handled unprofessionally in my opinion.

I also accept that due to the lack of participation on the Apogee forums public information was not likely a lot of advantage... but it is supposed to be the official source for information. Pretty weak... seeing as the US release date was announced and the front page of the official site has not even been updated to reflect this. Not a lot of effort going on here it seems.

I do find the lack of promotion of any kind, especially the official site, unusual as well.

Re: Duke Nukem: Critical Mass Thread
I have had that happen before with other products... you see they have a web site listed on their packaging and you go there and their site is REALLY weak.
If your target market is not people who normally use computers, that would be different... but this is a game. I am confident that most DS users have computer access. Many of them probably can't even drive yet... so they spend time on the net researching and looking etc. When they find the main site for the product, and it shows it hasn't even been released yet, but outside sources show it has been, that will not reflect well on the product.

Well, the game has not arrived here yet, so I still don't have it. I am not in a big rush though. It should show up any day though.

Hey guys, do you know if the commercial failure of Critical Mass should means that "Duke Nukem Trilogy" has been canceled? If it is, I would hope for a better Duke Nukem game (hopefully an FPS) on Nintendo 3DS and Playstation Vita not made by Koch Media/Deep Silver, but still produced by Scott Miller. Duke Nukem Trilogy in my eyes was a failure from the start, Apogee/3DRealms didn't choose wisely the developers.

Critical Mass wasn't made by Deep Silver but by Frontline Studios, Deep Silver were just Apogee's co-publisher on the game.

Still waiting... you would think they blew an opportunity to sell it along side of Duke Nukem Forever at release... GameStop didn't know what I was talking about. They never heard of it.
