It just takes one person and a little time to put together already finished resources (battlelord model and the dam) and make screenshots for self-promo. So DNF doesn't really have to be worked on.

On the other hand, I still hope there's some progress.

I only hope that dont give false illusion still unnecessarily fans. It is very important, in my opinion, that 3drealms is very clear at least with their fans, otherwise they lose all.

It's an industry first.
Imagine if the game gets released after all this extremely prolonged drama.
Its already an industry first to have such a thing happen over such a long period of time and money.

It looks like someone went into UnrealEd (or DukEd), loaded up a hoover dam level, and just placed a battlelord with an altered size.

It really looks like nothing more than placing an object in front of something else, not something gameplay wise.

Um, I take it you never watched the animation reel?

In it, Duke fought a giant battlelord.

Granted, it wasn't bigger than the Hoover dam, but it was still a giant enemy in comparison to all the others.

And I still hold onto what I said. It looks nothing more than an enemy spawned into an environment.

I agree, that's why the pic seems so "unnatural". And i agree with JobivanHiob that Scott, or someone close to him with less experience with the engine/3d software staged this screenshot and it is not ingame.

But the damn Battlelord is different to that we saw in the demo reel. This one has no armour whatsoever, and the model looks somewhat changed.

Sure it looks unnatural, it's just there standing with no AI at all, that's why.

But it's all imho.

Am I the only one to notice that in the second shot, the right arm has a very straight line down it, like it's behind something, but it's not actually obscured by anything? Blow up the image and take a closer look.

Looks more like a bad cut and paste job to me. Sure, there is creative use of blurring, but it still looks like a fake.

Actually given Randy's love for Duke Nukem, and his sudden forced re-interaction with George and Scott after so much of the DNF team went to Gearbox, it wasn't as unexpected as you might think. There may have been more to it than that, but that's pretty much what got the discussions started early on.

do you think Scott would be so stupid? i think he knows what he does. Scott looks more like the real guy behind 3drealms (past and present) than george.
i could be wrong but George always seemed to me more like a big talker/promoter.

In 5,6,9 months, whenever the trial is, doesn't 3d realms have to PROVE that they have done some progress with DNF development, since the day that all the developers left? Or in other words that "duke is back"?

What if all these new DNF screenshots is just the start of a desperate plan/effort to show that there is progress with DNF?....while the truth is far from it...

And where is the old 3DRealm staff? Isn't there anyone who just could try to answers some questions, or at least say anything? Like what happened, or just some goodies for us who have been here for 12 years.

I remembered when the Dues ex staff talked about what went wrong with DX: IW and it was very interesting. The problem among the people, how the graphic team refused to work with the programmers and people leaving the project because of personal problems in the office etc.

If 3D Realms was being forced to prove that progress had been made on DNF they'd have to prove it to the people involved in the lawsuit, not us. These wouldn't be made public for that reason.
