Shadow Warrior - Who wants some Wang?
So 3dRealms had plenty of time to make a Shadow Warrior 2 and make me a happy man.
Have they any plans of any kind???? |

Re: Shadow Warrior - Who wants some Wang?
I've just started to play it for real.
Once I completed the game but with cheat codes and stuff, the way I used to do it before. Now I've been playing games I completed with cheats, those being Doom 2, Doom 3, and most recently I've been playing Duke3D w/o cheats. And now Shadow Warrior, a great game. If i haven't asked for SW2 is because I know what they're going to say. As Steve said, this has been discussed a lot.

Re: Shadow Warrior - Who wants some Wang?
Considering they GAVE AWAY the add on for FREE a couple of years back, I don't think we'll be seeing any more Lo-Wang
I have the add on (WANTON DESTRUCTION) and it's a 3 meg zip. http://www.3drealms.com/downloads.html It's on this page, under the Shadow Warrior downloads: PC Files from Others 1. Wanton Destruction expansion pack freeware [ 3D Gamers | Fileshack | Fileplanet | Worthplaying ] So if you haven't played Wanton, get it. It's worth it, and it's the only "more of Lo-Wang" we'll probably ever get.

Re: Shadow Warrior - Who wants some Wang?
It was a 21 Mb installer..
You know, It was a headache figuring out who to installing it years back but that was before. No matter it was released as a freeware, it was great fun. Yes probably means we won't see more Lo Wang, but only God knows the way it's gonig to be... speaking in terms of a long time, because at least now we know we won't.

Re: Shadow Warrior - Who wants some Wang?
I would like to see a Shadow Warrior (or Tenchu) type game on an open-ended engine like GTA.
When I first learned the DNF engine might (MIGHT) be somewhat open-ended Shadow Warrior came to mind. I think Shadow Warrior is the best Build engine based game besides Duke Nukem 3D itself, though I have not played them all to completion. (Blood a close second in my opinion) Shadow Warrior was highly polished for sure. I have no idea how well it sold compared to Duke Nukem, but it must not have been of great interest or a second game would have been produced. Maybe once DNF is released the engine can be reused for a new Shadow Warrior. This brings me back to the Build engine itself... for its time it was the most fun engine in my opinion... sure the Quake engine was awesome, but Duke Gameplay was more arcade like and “fun” to me. Quake was dark and serious as well as visually more mature. However, I view them as completely different games/engines for completely different moods. I like them equally, but for very different reasons. I wrote articles for (and to) several websites back when people and companies began to compare to these two games in what I felt was an unfair comparison... apples and oranges. Ending the ramble with the point... the Build engine was the core literally and figuratively of the success of "the other" games like Shadow Warrior, Blood, Redneck Rampage, TekWar, Nam/Napalm, most of us know them all. For this reason I would like to see the DNF Engine used for other games hopefully with some of the existing Intellectual Properties/Titles of 3D Realms and the Build engine developers. Shadow Warrior 2 and Blood on the new engine both would be high on my list for sure. It’s all thoughts... maybe just dreams... MrBlackCat

Re: Shadow Warrior - Who wants some Wang?
After reading this thread yesterday, I played some SW and imagined how cool the game would be with nowadays technology, and the sticky bombs were the first thing that came to my mind .

Re: Shadow Warrior - Who wants some Wang?
well, they should at least allow someone who asks them for the rights to make a freeware second the ability to do that

Re: Shadow Warrior - Who wants some Wang?
It's a modified Unreal2. think the only part left from unreal2 is the scripting, 3DR wrote the rest of the engine themselves (it's in the DNF threads somewhere, a G.B. post).

That would be Unreal Engine 2, which was used for Unreal 2 among other games, inhouse and not. If I remember correctly, 3DR originally licensed the Quake (Quake 2?) engine, started making the game, but ultimately didn't use the license for anything. They then licensed the Unreal Engine, the original version, and upgraded to version 2 over time. They didn't upgrade to version 3 (Unreal Tournament 3 era), but added lots of neat things to the engine themselves. I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong.

Re: Shadow Warrior - Who wants some Wang?
Quote:
Three quick quotes of many... "The engine, which now contains parts of an early version of Unreal Engine 2.0..." "In 2002, after hiring several new programmers, the team completely rewrote the renderer and other game engine modules, beginning work on a new generation of game content." "Broussard has stated several times that the only parts of the Unreal engine that are still part of their code base are UnrealScript, the networking code, and the UnrealEd. Everything else (except the current physics engine) has been written from scratch by 3D Realms." So... No, it (the engine) hasn't been used for other games. Both of your first two sentences are incorrect. You might want to re-read the history of the game before you correct others incorrectly... Most people will find it offensive. You can learn a great deal about DNF history on this site and many other fan sites if you have a look around with the forum Search Engine. Because of this rewrite, I would really like to see other games developed by 3D Realms on this new engine... as stated in my previous post. MrBlackCat

Re: Shadow Warrior - Who wants some Wang?
It would be pretty damn awesome if Lo Wang was to return in Duke Nukem Forever. He could either help or fight Duke in the single player game or at the very least he could be a playable character in the multiplayer mode. Whatever happens, if he does return he should still be played by John Galt.

^You know I always though about that but always forgot about it. As a multiplayer character would be awesome.

Re: Shadow Warrior - Who wants some Wang?
Sadly i think that a shadow warrior 2 is only a dream...i don't think the original sw sold very well at the time. It's a pity, since it's a great game (but my BUILD favourite is still blood,a real forgotten classic )
Luckily there are a lot of mods all around the net |

Re: Shadow Warrior - Who wants some Wang?
Shaddow Warrior was definitely awesome, if we can't have SW2 then i'd at least think it really cool if there was a HRP and port more like EDuke style which i've grown to like (yes people who remember what i'd like to forget from my earlier appearences on these forums, i have)
i'm sure there's a HRP somewhere, i used to have one, but still.

Re: Shadow Warrior - Who wants some Wang?
SW2 would be cool, but I'd rather have DNF and Duke Nukem 5, considering the development time and so on.
