Yeah. I saw one guy - name forgotten - who called himself a 3DR veteran and went on about how long he had been waiting for this game. Turned out he had been registered here for about a year and a half and managed a total of less than 30 posts in that time.

Considering I hardly even see myself as one of the real veterans in here it gets very difficult to just pat those people's heads and say "there, there..."

There are old-timers that forgot the passwords to their old forum accounts, didn't have access to their old email accounts, had their old forum accounts deleted for inactivity, got banned for making "ForNevar!" jokes back in the day, etc. Just because someone's current forum account is only a year old doesn't mean jack shit.

Posts that show up as "Guest" are ancient users whose accounts were deleted.

Although there are approximately 11000 users, the most recent user number is somewhere around 30000. That implies that approximately 19000 users were deleted over the years.

A lot of those were probably spambots and trolls and stuff, but some of them were ppl that hadn't been active in many years.

The Apogee forum and the archives (whose posts go back into the late 1990s) are the best places to find these accounts.

Sometimes, if such a post was edited while the user was still here, you can tell by the "Edited by" what the user's name used to be. Also, if a now-deleted user was quoted by another user back in the day, you can tell by the quote what the user's name used to be.

Holy cow, it is older than I.

Thanks for the tip on searching the archives though. I've been trying to find traces of my old lurker account from before I signed up as Waiter, but the few posts I did back then were probably all in the DNF section where threads were nuked en masse and not mucht ever made it to the archives. The difficulty is that I can't remember the name so it's kind of difficult to search for.

I remember FNORD!
I remember The Post Thread, we're the only rule was: don't go on topic!
I remember The Babe Thread, and Charlie3D posting Britney Spears pics!
I remember George3D making the thread "It's DONE!"....... which was about the pizza he was about to eat.
I remember Mike The Spike, the biggest troll ever. And that he came back at least six times.
I remember there being only one girl, Thea (mostly because I still chat with her... damm, I know her for over ten years probably)
I remember other girls coming on, like Baskinator and Spazzychick (who made a phone call to Joe on his birthday).
I remember another girl making a "hi, I'm...." thread, which we filled with requests for hot pics and making out sessions.......... and then it turned out it was Mike The Spike again.

But most of all.......... I remember fun and jokes.

Good old skatepix and Yattix are both archived on one of my hard drives.

The cover pics for Yattix's album was pretty classic. You could almost say he looked quite the thug in it.

I still remember if my High School PC was good enough to run DNF. In the time it took to come out, I finished High School, College, and now have a job for about a year and a half, and working towards TKD and HKD black belts, heh.

I still believe DNF is an epic troll, which has been true for the past (10 / 12?) years.

And I just can't keep on staring at the train crash that is this forum

^This guy. Man, I miss interaction with Grande. Very much a tease in life, the whole "wow this person could be a friend for life" OH GOD IT IS THE INTERNET THEY WILL DISAPPEAR AT SOMEPOINT. It is so difficult to remember all the old members and their names, and then they changed names maybe, and there were so fewer people but still active. People would change their avatar and I'd be thrown because now I don't remember who is who. And I was on the tail end of that, forum wise. But it was Duke3D that brought them all here. Brought me here. I'll play DNF, but probably with remorse.

You know, like everything else I do.
