Re: The Amazing Spiderman
I'm okay with them doing a reboot, but I think taking him back to high school and retelling his entire origin story from scratch is stupid and unnecessary. That being said...this looks surprisingly good!

The only thing that stopped from condemning them for retelling the whole thing is that they're introducing Peter's parents, which I hope won't be underused on this one or for the rest of the series.

I hated Rami's series (and typically I'd have called myself a Rami fanboy) so I really don't care if they reboot.

I liked the first two, but felt the third one was simply awful. I thought it was pretty clear with the third one Sam was tired of working on the series.

True that. Maybe if the studio would have let him do his thing.

I was happy to see Raimi leave Spider-Man and go back to doing what he enjoys. Drag me to Hell was awesome.

I enjoyed the first 2 films, the second movie ranks as a favorite in the genre. The final fight with GG was very Raimi and so was the OR scene in S2 where Doc Ock is about to be operated on.

The new teaser isn't very promising and the look seems off for some reason. The Parkers had secrets angle smacks of another Avenger's tie-in, like Iron Man 2 had with the Stark legacy themes.

Funnily the scenes everyone hates in spiderman 3 are my favourite scenes in the series(the film is ****ign awful still though). Only time it didn't feel like Rami wasn't just being hand held by the producers. They had a damn sense of humour instead of just primary school melodrama. "Yeah us New Yorkers stick together" oh **** off terrible writers.

I liked the first one. Oddly enough the complaints Roger Ebert and Leonard Maltin had about the first one were the complaints I had about the second, and they consider the second to be one of the best superhero movies ever (I disagree).

This new one might be ok.

Great trailer! I'm excited. Everything about this movie looks very slick and polished, but not in an artificial way.

Possibly due to a heavy use of practical effects in the film. Eg most of the webswinging is real stuntmen.

Not a fan of the "Red and Blue" suit. It should be Red, Blue with Black lines, especially around the eyes on the mask where the shiny blue looks like the frames for old lady glasses.

The mechanical webshooters are welcome however. I'm still reserving judgment on this one.

Re: The Amazing Spiderman
Yeah, movie's good. Not great, but not terrible by any means, either.

I like Andrew Garfield a lot more in the role than Tobey MacGuire (or whatever the f**k his name is).
There's some genuinly funny scenes in this movie, some nice laughs, visuals are overall solid, the 3D is pointless, though (no surprise here).

If you're not too much into the character I would recommend a rental, but overall it's a solid and fun (super-) hero movie.

Yeah, I was going to watch that this weekend, but it seemed like a casino trip was calling us today instead. Although, coming off the Tobey Maguire series, I sort of wonder how veteran Spider-Man movie watchers will react having a new cast released this close to the last movie from the Maguire/Dunst era? Kind of hard to have a reboot this early in the game.

Watched it. Loved it.
This is what I've been wanting out of a Spider-Man film. Andrew Garfield nailed Peter Parker, and by extension... Spider-Man's personality. The sarcasm, awkwardness, intelligence... all of it.
And finally, a female love interest who doesn't sit around screaming to be saved.

Everything about this movie was great.
The Lizard did at times feel a bit rushed (character arc wise) but he was still an extremely strong and interesting character. Much better then Norman from Raimi's Spider-Man film.

Personally, I know I'll be chastised for saying this, but I enjoyed this more then The Avengers.

QFT! Thank you! I also really liked how Spidey was depicted, overall...very agile and wiry and fast, and I liked how much he used his webs in combat.

Ok so I missed the movie last weekend. Saw it yesterday and liked it. Some funny & cool moments for Garfield although not all the awkwardness was charming. As a reboot, it treads familiar territory but manages to put it's own spin on known events. I enjoyed a few highschool and cellphone moments with echoes from the Ultimate Spider-man comics. Also liked Aunt May's character who wasn't as one-dimensional as she's sometimes portrayed. The ending was Spoiler:
Not the best I've seen this summer but worth a watch.

Saw it. Casting was good, and Spider-Man was great, but otherwise I'd say that old Spider-Man film was much better. Better story, better pacing, better editing, better music, etc. I did enjoy this one, however I still hated that suit.

Also I was happy with how the Lizard played out and was happy with how his situation ended. The climax seemed to be too silly though. I thought it was too big of a situation for Spider-Man. What's gonna top it? Someone has to try to blow up the entire city next.

Aside from the recent article about a man with stereoblindness being able to experience "normal" vision for the first time after seeing Hugo in 3D, I agree. 3D movies are a bilking scheme!

Watched in 2D in the end, and loved it.

The plot did feel slightly stitched together in parts but I really enjoyed the action, and I thought Garfield was superb as Peter Parker.

Didn't quite understand what was going on in the end; Spoiler:

Overall I worthy reboot and I can't wait to see what they do with a sequel seeing as they won't have to force the origin story in.
