Why does Duke Nukem not start with boots and a jetpack even though he is already wearing them?

With the level stats shown, why does the number of enemies in Tier Drops constantly go down into the negatives?

Why does Duke surive using the nuke button yet all the enemies die?

Is Duke Nukem insane?

Would Duke Nukem be considered intelligent?

On the background in the XBLA game, what is that thing with the blue vest?, an alien trooper? Why does it look so different?

Giving Duke a jetpack and boots to start would have made the first level unfairly easy.

Want logical explanations? The boots that Duke is wearing at start aren't made to handle being on harsh surfaces. The Jetpack is out of fuel, remember Duke was shot out of the sky by alien bastards, and he didn't have time to grab the extra fuel tank in his ship.

Here's a logical developer explanation: It would be additional coding and art files to render Duke with boots, jetpack and neither. Thats three additional states that needs to be created and programmed in.

However, I actually kept wondering about why he didn't have jetpack when the player starts the game, as Duke equips it. I then found out that it would be ridiculous to have a jetpack in the beginning, most of them are logical questions which you can easily answer anyway.

Your second question might be because of the enemy spawns.

About the blue vested troopers, in the original game (For the PC) their sprites were actually blue, but somehow in it's code, it's palette was changed while the level loads. (IIRC) They probably put the blue one to make it look eye-candy, or interesting.

You guys do know these are random questions I wrote out of boredom, not things that overly confuse me. Only the one about tier drops was serious.

Ralik: The first level can be beat in 10 seconds anyway, but the logical explanation works.

XTHX2: The vest isn't what caught me off guard, it was the rather out of place looking face.

1. I always thought he was running but due to really short legs he just couldn't go that fast.

2. Duke is carrying a rocket launcher all the time?, man I feel jipped whenever I start a level and can only use the pistol. Maybe he doesn't have anywhere to put the rocket launcher so he just holds one weapon in each hand.

3. The green outfitted soldier is a reference to DOOM, and the only monk I saw was in a little church in the prison who the aliens either hung or they commited suicide when the aliens took over. Also maybe for contraversy.

They're blue cause blue is the color that changes when you change the palette code for most of the palettes. This way they can make them red without haveing to do anything different. So they're blue, the game sets the palette for the default to green and the red ones are red.
