Re: So how were you Introduced to DUKE NUKEM?
I seen a Big ass poster of Duke in 1996 at a shopping mall and I was stunned at how awesome Duke was in it. I looked forward to someday playing him and a year later I did on the n64.

First saw Duke Nukem 3D in a small gameshop (long since gone) when it was just released.
The guy behind the counter was playing the game and fooling around in the editor a bit and the combination of real world environments and scifi ingredients caught my eye.

I ended up more interested in Dark Forces though, which I received as a birthday present a couple of days later and that I was so completely mesmerised by that I wasn't interested in anything else for months.

Finally bought Duke3D late '96 and loved it to pieces.

There's a shop called makro near the dock, 1996, it was on a PC in there and I played on Duke Nukem 3D (they sell PCs no more there) - before long i talked my dad into buying the shareware release, FOCUS did the disc and it had v1.2 Shareware on it, which I hear is illegal, i've still got it somewhere but I don't know where, i'd love to find that disc, as soon as the Atomic Edition came out, some guy accross the street decided he didn't like it, and so I played that version since (Even though I now have a V1.3D disc in the box)

After that I played Duke Nukem 1 & 2 on my IBM 386SX (Y'know, 4Mb ram, VGA, 512Mb HDD etc, i've still got that machine, it was my first PC) and then got Duke 64 and just carried on being a fan of it, still to this day, I built a Pentium 2 and put a SB16 in it so as to be able to play the old games in their original DOS glory.

Duke was a major part of my childhood (is that a bad or good thing?) as I was always disliked in school, especially in IT, because I was the geeky kid and (head swells) I was smarter than everyone else, when playing duke, I could forget about how cruel the world was outside and concentrate on how cruel things were in the game, it felt like my revenge I suppose (hmm, am I right?)

Sorry it's a long post, isn't it.

Although I can't remember it, my folks have photos of me getting the original Duke Nukem for Christmas way back in lord knows what year (probably 1992 or thereabouts, which would make me around 4 at the time).

Our 386 (later to become a 486 33mhz) IBM was the platform of choice for both it and later Duke 2. I wasn't allowed to play Duke 3D until I was older, which was pretty fair in retrospect

My dad had Duke Nukem 3D on his old Windows 95 machine. I don't remember when or how I started playing, but I know it was before I was at least age 6. Yes, I was really young, and I played with Adult Mode on. I tried the original Duke Nukem years later and loved it too.

I was introduced to Duke Nukem when I was about 6 years old, even though I didn't know it was Duke Nukem, I just thought it was a kick ass game that my Dad brought home. It was Duke Nukem 2.
When I was introduced to Duke Nukem and I actually KNEW it was Duke Nukem was when I was about 7. While I was asleep in my dad's computer chair, he loaded up the game, went to the level 'Overlord', dropped into the boss chamber but didn't trigger the boss doors to open, turned on God Mode, turned up the volume, and left the room.

Naturally, when I woke up, I was greeted with the visage of a Protozoid Slimer eating Duke's Face, with the sound blaring. I admit that due to that experience, I now have a fear of creatures like the Protozoid Slimer in games.
Hell, I find it hard to complete games like Half-Life 2 because of the Black Head-Crabs due to that experience.

All in all though, looking back, that was funny as hell.

Duke got me into gaming. In 1996, when I was 8 years old, I used to sit and watch my dad play Duke Nukem 3D. I wasn't influenced by it to the point that I repeated his one-liners (which would have gotten me a really red rear end) but when I was on the playground, while all the other kids were power rangers, I was the king of the world baby. The Dukester! I tried playing it on PC, but all of the button combinations got me really confused. So with a heavy heart I merely watched by dad play Duke 3D. Then about a year later, Christmas 1997, I was delighted to see that Santa (Dad) had left me a Nintendo 64 under the Christmas tree, along with Mario 64 and Duke 64. I'd been a casual gamer and a nintendo fan for a while longer than Duke, but I ran to my room, hooked the N64 up, and listened to grabbag before playing Hollywood Holocaust for the first time from beginning to end. I stayed up long nights playing Duke 64. When my friends weren't over, I'd dukematch with bots when the single-player got stale. And Duke 64 led me on to more FPS's like Quake 2 and Unreal Tournament. So....Duke is what made me a hardcore gamer, which is why I often defend it from overzelous forum trolls all across the internet that take popshots at what they see as an aging icon. But Duke'll be back...With more bubblegum.

The video game show was called Bits with three babes as presenters. It also made me aware of Max Payne 1, Duke Nukem Zero hour ( he had funny hat on and his neck looked like he had a pony tail but is was just the graphics.

I then bought some games for my PS1 and kept looking for the long hair but discovered he had short hair. Which is better short hair.

I discovered Duke last year with the new teaser for "Duke Nukem Forever." Since then I've been watching over Duke, following his history and current progress. (By now, I probably sound like the G-Man from Half-Life 2!) I never actually played a Duke Nukem game until recently, but I've seen videos of him. What I really liked about Duke was his one liners and badassedness (That should be a Dictionary word.) However, while looking through magazines I saw an issue of OXM. The cover story was Guitar Hero 4, but what caught my eye was "The Return of Duke Nukem...FINNALY: Duke comes to XBLA!" So here I am, I've been spoiled with games like Halo, Half-Life 2, and Bioshock, but as soon as I played the demo, I knew I was hooked! I loved it! I Downloaded it! I actually played it more than Halo 3 in the past few days! So now, I'm waiting for Duke Nukem Forever (Well, this is going to be a fun 10 years, huh? Sorry George and Joe, had to say it.)

Re: So how were you Introduced to DUKE NUKEM?
My first experience with duke was the DN2 shareware version. Got it from an uncle who was always after the newest games (he's also responsable for me playing Wolfenstein3D way to young ) I must have been about 8 or 9 years old.
Some time after that i got the shareware version of DN1, it was on a second hand pc we bought. That whole pc was loaded with shareware (a 386 with a sound card, woohoo! )
In 1996 i saw the demo of DN3D running in a shop. I wanted it, and i wanted it bad. But my specs where to low. So I bought a magazine with the demo, to try if i could make it work. I couldn't. It would take around six months until i got a 486. Duke was among the first things i tried. Now i could start saving money to buy the complete version (i was 12 back then). In the meantime i played the demo so much i can complete it with my eyes closed
When i finally got the complete DN3D, with it came the complete versions of DN1 & DN2. Imagine my complete state of happiness... since then i build maps, tons of them, (wich never made it onto the internet) played, played again, got the atomic version, played more, we build a network around the house for playing duke (it's still there, only now it's wireless instead of coax ) and of course i got DN:MP. To bad my copy is scratched, can't play it anymore.
Ever since the first rumours of DNF where there in 1997 / 1998 i followed and waited.

So there's the story how Duke changed my life

Anyway, I disc went corrupt after heavy usage, and bought a legal one. And lost that one. And bought another legal one. Guess what happend to that one? >_< But I found them all back so I got like three or four discs now
